2012 Volunteer of the Year Breakfast Wednesday, September 26th!

The Allendale Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated the 2012 Volunteer of the Year this morning at Peppino's Ristorante & Grille in Allendale.  The breakfast event was hosted by the Allendale Rotary Club. The event is meant to honor and bring attention to the many volunteers who help make the Allendale community a better place to live, as well as promoting and expanding the ethic of service to all of our citizens, and to those whose commitment to community and service to others is exemplary.

Please congratulate those nominees, Kris Arnoldink & Joan Van Farowe along with the recipient of the 2012 Volunteer of the Year Award, Roger Ezinga.  We are so thankful for all that these people do to continually give of their time and talent in our community and it was a pleasure to take time this morning to recognize their efforts.

Establishing Safe & Realistic Speed Limits

You are invited to join us for a presentation from the Michigan State Police, Tuesday, June 19th at 9:00am at the Allendale Township Auditorium regarding  “Establishing Safe and Realistic Speed Limits”

      SUMMARY:
A vast majority of speed limits across the country are not established
correctly and, as a result, put police officers and crash investigators
in a difficult position. Many times a motorist in violation of a posted
speed limit is actually driving at a safe and reasonable speed and is
not creating a traffic safety issue.

The relationship between speed limits and actual travel speeds is
counterintuitive and often misunderstood.  The presentation will
illustrate the basic engineering principals that should be used to
establish a proper, enforceable speed limit and will highlight several
examples of what occurs, or more importantly what doesn’t occur, after
      a speed limit is corrected.
