Chamber Announces 2016 Scholarship Award Recipient
Allendale Area Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund Names 2016 Recipient
Allendale, MI – Every year, the Allendale Area Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund awards a $500 scholarship to an Allendale area senior who has been accepted and will be attending Grand Valley State University in the fall immediately following their high school graduation. Applicants are asked to write a short essay about ‘building a better business community’ and are judged on leadership, citizenship and involvement in school and community activities.
The Allendale Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to congratulate Courtney Allen from Allendale High School for being chosen as the 2016 Allendale Area Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Award recipient.
Courtney’s leadership in band as a drum major, clarinet section leader, participation in choir and the performing arts have prepared her to pursue a major in music education at Grand Valley State University. In addition to being a stellar musician, Courtney’s academic success is impeccable. While taking a challenging college preparatory curriculum, Courtney has achieved a 3.909 GPA. Lastly, her volunteerism and involvement in extracurricular activities is commendable. Courtney has been active in National Honors Society, Music Boosters, Allendale Public Schools Foundation and her church.
The Allendale Area Chamber of Commerce is committed to encouraging higher education as an economic development tool. This scholarship is an ongoing way for the business community to support student achievement and keep talent local. We feel Courtney is an excellent example of our commitment.
On behalf of the Allendale business community, congratulations Courtney!
