The Annual Allendale Community Field Day's mission each year is to encourage outdoor education and environmental awareness by developing a variety of engaging activities outside the classroom. The objective is to harness ?the power of many volunteers? to build the infrastructure and create the necessary foundation upon which outdoor activities will be developed and ultimately making the Allendale Public Schools K-8 campus a free outdoor education destination not just for Allendale Public Schools but for the whole West Michigan community. The 4th Annual Allendale Community Field Day's theme is "Things the Pollinate," and so it will be a morning packed full of family oriented free hands-on science learning for all ages. Some of the activities for this year include: · Building solitary bee houses for your house and on-campus research · Pollination garden planting · Getting to see what a bee sees and the science behind pollen structure · Pollination Scramble for the 3 to 6 year olds · Pollination Scavenger Hunt · Name the Queen Contest (yes we have a viewable hive set up on campus) For more information, please like us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/AnnualAllendaleCommunityFieldDay and/or email me at piccarke@gvsu.edu or Peter Riemersma at riemersp@gvsu.edu
