Unity Christian High School Alumni Pr...Description
This June, alumni from Unity Christian High School will present the musical Les Misérables. This production is directed by Judy Roelofs and the cast features more than 50 alumni from over 15 years of UCHS musicals, with over a dozen alumni musicians playing in the pit and many more alumni and UCHS supporters helping in off-stage roles. Proceeds from the alumni musical will benefit the new UCHS campus, which is scheduled to break ground in spring 2014.
“Putting together an alumni musical has been kind of a dream of mine and the alumni for probably the last four or five years,” says Roelofs, former UCHS choir and musical director. “I wanted it to be a way for alumni – younger alumni – to be able to give back and be involved in the new campus.”
When considering which musical the alumni should produce, Roelofs immediately thought of Les Misérables. “Les Mis is one of the most poignant, dramatic, and beautiful stories I’ve ever heard,” she says. “Even though it’s harsh and ugly in places, and shows the worst in men, it also is a redemptive story and shows the best in humanity.”
Les Misérables will be performed at 7:00pm on June 19, 20, and 21, at Zeeland East DeWitt Auditorium, located at 3333 96th Avenue. Regular tickets are $10-25. To purchase tickets, click HERE.
In addition, supporters can place advertisements in the Alumni Musical playbill, which will be professionally printed and distributed to all who attend Les Misérables. Click HERE for the Playbill Ad form.
